Just got a new puppy and are worried about them being left alone whilst you are out or at work,

We will visit your puppy and clean up any accidents the puppy may have had, your puppy will receive good puppy suitable exercise and mental stimulation through our tried and tested "play sessions".

Included in this service is basic training with your puppy if required, including toilet training.

When the puppy is old enough and we (including you the owner) feel that the puppy is ready, and has had all the necessary vaccinations we will get the puppy used to the lead and also walking on the lead, and will also introduce the puppy to outside stimuli that can be frightening to a puppy at first, such as traffic, people, other animals and also reinforce any heel work you have been doing with your puppy.

This is extremely beneficial to puppies as it allows your puppy to grow into a well rounded respectable member of society.

When your puppy is old enough should you so wish you can then upgrade to our dog walking service, again this is under no obligation.

The initial consultation will go through your dog behavioural problem, we will go through the possible causes of your dogs behavioural problem and also the various training techniques and tips.

After the initial consultation we will be available by phone to go through any questions and queries, and will make a follow up consultation to see how the training is going free of charge.

Training session are available to be booked if required.

We offer both singular and group dog walking session consisting of either half an hour or a full hour.

If your dog becomes dirty during our time together we will ensure they are cleaned before they re-enter your home. Fresh water is provided for your dog during our exercise/walking sessions, we will also refill water bowls at your home.

If we are required to keep a copy of your key this will be kept in the safe when not in use.

When you first contact Take The Lead regarding our dog walking service and your pet we will take some basic information from you and also answer any questions or queries that you may have and also give you a brief description of our dog walking packages.

If you are then interested in one of our dog walks we will book an initial consultation at a convenient time for you.

This visit allows us to get to know you and your dog and also for you to get to know your dog walker, to feel comfortable with the selected dog walker, to discus the arrangements and any special requirements your dog may have.

We will also bring you a copy of our terms and conditions and also our insurance coverage for your peace of mind.

You can book your dog walks if you so wish, at the initial consultation or at further notice via email, phone call or text message.

Take The Lead offers dog training for all breeds and ages, our training sessions are designed around you and your dogs needs.

The session can take place at various locations including your home or local park.

Each dog is different, so we vary our a training and approach based on each dog's personality and temperament and what will work for your dog.

Our training sessions can be devised to any specific requirements you, your family and the dog may require.

Our training method is based on positive reinforcement, such as praise and rewards and not negative reinforcement such as, spray and shock collars, choke and progoned collars, and no shouting.

This means your dog is not stressed or nervous and is relaxed in the session and will form a much stronger bond with you the owner.

This service is on a daily basis and is beneficial if you are working long hours, going on a family day out , have a function such as party, wedding, christening etc and don’t want your pet left unattended all day.

This service includes feeding and fresh water being provided, letting in or out the animal to use the toilet etc, play time and lots of cuddles.

*NB this service does not included a dog walk, this can be added to the service if required.

Bringing a new puppy home is not just extremely exciting and a happy day for you and your family, it can also be a highly stressful situation that you find yourself in.

When you bring your puppy home you realise all the dangers around and all the mischief the puppy can get into and cause.

Take The Lead can offer help and advice in puppy proofing your home to help to prevent chewing and various other destructive behaviours.

Take The Lead can also design a specific puppy training regime to suit you, your family and most importantly your puppy, this can include basic obedience training and most importantly toilet training.

A more pet friendly alternative to kennels.

Animals thrive on routine and familiarity, some pets can become extremely nervous and stressed when put into a kennel or cattery environment.

Your pet is left in their own environment (your home) with their own routine, which is the best situation for your pets wellbeing, as the stress of a kennel environment is avoided.

Take The Lead will walk your dog for a minimum of 2 hours during the day (this can be split up into smaller walks throughout the day), more if the type of breed requires it, provide all the love and attention they need as well as following there regular feeding and bed time routine, we will also groom your pet and give medication if needed.

We will also bring in your post, water any household plants, close blinds/ curtains, put the bins out and also send you text messages updating you on how your pet is doing.

Initial consultation - The initial consultation enables you to meet your allocated pet sitter and allows your pet to meet their new best friend. This will also gives you the opportunity to ask any questions and for your pet sitter to go through the paper work, which details insurance coverage, your pets needs and any special requirements, and also your veterinarian details.
